Pride in Place underway in Digmoor
Digmoor has been chosen as one of 146 areas in England to receive government Pride In Place funding (the only area chosen in West Lancs). Areas were selected by the government on the basis of deprivation data and community need, to identify those with the poorest social and economic outcomes.
Digmoor will now receive £2 million from the Government every year for 10 years. The programme is designed to give communities the resources and tools they need to drive change themselves and shape their neighbourhoods for the better. Local residents will be leading the delivery of the programme and a Neighbourhood Board – made up of local people – will decide how the money is spent in the community.
We’re pleased to hear that Kevin Davidson has recently been appointed as the Independent Chair of the Skelmersdale South East Pride in Place Partnership Board, following an open and competitive selection process.
Kevin grew up in Digmoor, attended local schools and has spent more than two decades working in and for the Skelmersdale community. He will now work closely with council officers, the MP and local residents to assemble a new Partnership Board by mid‑July, and lead the development of a regeneration plan by the end of November.
