Community Involvement and Developmental Health

The Project aims to encourage individuals, voluntary and community groups and professionals to work together to improve health for people in West Lancashire by:
  • Identifying relevant health issues
  • Promoting partnership work
  • Supporting health-related groups and individuals
  • Creating the opportunity for people to influence Health Service delivery at a strategic level
  • Co-ordinating a Community Health Network
The project links people to health and support services and links those commissioning the services to local issues and concerns. It also works with community groups to identify health issues and help find solutions. This may include signposting to sources of support or contacting agencies on their behalf.
The Project liaises regularly with Central Lancashire Primary Care Trust regarding the most up to date information on service provision and any changes in service delivery.
The Project Officer co-ordinates the West Lancashire Voluntary Community Social Care, Health and Wellbeing Network. This is open to anyone in West Lancashire who has an interest in health and wellbeing issues and meets four times a year. Its aims include:
  • Strengthening the contribution of those in the voluntary and community sector that have an interest in the promotion of good health, social care and wellbeing.
  • Establishing effective communication structures to promote the Network to both service commissioners and service users
  • Enabling members to raise issues or share information about their specific health, social care and wellbeing topics.
  • Acting as a voice for vulnerable people and those who experience health and social care inequalities
The Project's work is guided by an Action Plan, which was based on a review of parish plans and surveys that identified health issues important to the local community. For a summary of the issues identified in West Lancashire) click here
